Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how EPRCalc ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and stores information when you visit eprcalc.com or use the EPR packaging tax calculator. We aim to be plain-language and explicit about what we do with your data.

Information we collect

  • Calculator inputs: the Shopify storefront URL or product page URLs you paste into the calculator, and any company size or SKU volume estimates you provide.
  • Waitlist form: email address, company name, SKU count, Shopify URL (if provided), and the US states you sell into.
  • Marketing parameters: when you arrive via a link with UTM parameters or a Google click ID (gclid), we capture those to attribute traffic.
  • Technical: IP address (stored as a salted hash only), user agent, referring URL, and approximate geolocation (country/region) derived from IP at request time.
  • Analytics cookies: via Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion tracking.

How we use your information

  • To run the packaging tax estimate and return results to you.
  • To contact you if you joined the waitlist, with product updates or early access invitations.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our advertising (Google Ads, Google Analytics).
  • To prevent abuse (rate limiting via hashed IP).

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers beyond standard conversion pings to Google Ads.

Where your data is stored

All data is stored in Cloudflare D1, a serverless SQLite database hosted in Cloudflare's edge network. Rate-limit state is stored in Cloudflare KV. No data is stored on servers outside of Cloudflare's infrastructure.

Third-party processors

  • Google Gemini (Google LLC): we send the public content of the product URLs you submit to Gemini to extract packaging composition. We do not send your email, company name, or any PII to Gemini.
  • Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (Google LLC): for site analytics and ad conversion measurement.
  • Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.): hosting, database, CDN, and rate limiting.

Data retention

Waitlist entries and calculation records are retained for 90 days, after which they are deleted. Analytics data retained by Google follows Google's default retention (currently 14 months for GA4 event data). Hashed IPs are retained alongside the calculation row for the same 90-day window.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA; EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR. We will honor verified requests within 30 days.

Cookies

We use two categories of cookies: (1) analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4; (2) advertising cookies set by Google Ads for conversion measurement. You can disable these via your browser settings or an ad-blocker without losing calculator functionality.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change. Material changes will be announced on the home page banner for at least 30 days.
